Two (2) were allegedly robbed by three (3) men, one (1) of whom had been armed with a gun, of their cellular phones, gold jewellery and cash while they were out with their friends imbibing on Easter Sunday (yesterday).
The alleged robbery took place around 20:30h at Mon Repos School Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
HGP Nightly News understands that one (1) of the men who was robbed was struck to his head with the gun before he lost briefly lost consciousness.
He has been identified as Ryan Singh, who was robbed of one (1) Samsung ‘S’ 21 with a SIM card worth $50,000 and $25,000 in cash.
Meanwhile, his friend, Rameez Mohammed, was reportedly robbed of a gold chain worth $250,000, a gold ring valued at $300,000, one (1) Samsng ‘A’ 71 cellular phone with a SIM card worth $50,000, one (1) Samsung ‘J’ 8 cellular phone valued at $40,000 and $175,000 in cash.
According to a police statement, Mohammed and Singh were “having a few drinks” with some friends when one of their friends shouted ’watch them man!’ which prompted all of the men who had been imbibing to run for safety.
“While Mohamed was running he fell to the ground and two (2) of the men then relieved him of the mention items. Singh was then lashed to his head with a gun by one of the perpetrators, causing him to lose consciousness. He was then relieved of the mention items.”
The men then made good their escape on separate bicycles heading West into a nearby street.
Investigations are ongoing.
