Guyana continues to make positive strides in the medical field and with the introduction of the Balwant Singh In Vitro Fertilization [IVF] Program, even more successes are promised.
Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital is the first to offer this service to the Guyanese people, as previous cases would usually be transferred to health institutions out of the country.
Dr. Madhu Singh, an Indian doctor resident in Guyana, has been with the hospital from its inception and is elated thus far with the results the programme has yielded. She stressed that this is a major development and even though it may seem costly, a lot of persons would have already expressed their interest to the hospital. The estimated cost of the procedure is USD$8,000. Guyana first IVF product was a bouncing baby boy, who– according to Dr. Madhu– is doing quite well. The mother of the child is said to be in excellent condition as well.
Balwant Singh Hospital has been offering supreme medical services to the Guyanese public since its establishment and with the installation of this new programme; it is only expected to continually enhance the local health sector.
