A 29-year-old staff of the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) is nursing several wounds about his body after he was beaten by two (2) men from his village while the trio had been consuming alcoholic beverages with each other late last night (Monday).

The injured man has been identified as Karl Alpin and the incident allegedly occurred around 23:40h at the Orealla village, Corentyne, Berbice.

According to a police statement, the three (3) men are known to each other and were imbibing when an argument commenced. The row quickly escalated and Alpin and one (1) of the men ended up in a scuffle.

This resulted in one (1) of the perpetrators arming himself with a piece of wood and using it to lash Alpin about his body several times while the second (2nd) perpetrator joined his friend in assaulting the GFC officer.

“The perpetrators also received injuries about their bodies with one suspect being treated and sent away while the victim is admitted at the Orealla Hospital. Both suspects are presently in police custody at Orealla Police Station as investigations continue,” the cops noted.
