GUYANA MARKET VENDORS UNION SEEKS TO ENGAGE WITH CITY COUNCIL

The Guyana Market Vendors Union is expected to seek engagement with the new city councilors to resolve a number of issues in the council. Yaniss Abrams Reports.

After seeking an audience with the Georgetown Municipality’s Administration close to three years, President of the Guyana Market Vendors Union Eon Andrews has seen his opportunity, with the new councilors at the municipality.

Mr. Andrews disclosed that in the past, the union has made a number of attempts to engage with the Town Council’s officials but Town Clerk Royston King, who has been sent on administrative leave, has not recognized the union. The union intends to write to the new councilors in the new week on issues related to their members.

The union’s president, who is also a former city councilor is confident that the councilors will engage with the union. The Union is seeking balance of respect between the municipality and the people who ply their trade in and around the municipality’s markets.
