Sugar workers of the three remaining Estates are expected to receive a bonus after the company surpasses its sugar production target for 2018. Yaniss Abrams Reports.
With only three sugar estates in operation; Albion, Blairmont and Uitvlugt, the Guyana Sugar Cooperation has announced that they have achieved its production target for the year 2018 which is 103, 000 tons of sugar. Acknowledging the work of the sugar workers, the company is expected to give a bonus as the target has been surpassed. Compared to 2017’s production target which is less than 12,000 tones than 2018, GuySuCo has passed their weekly targets on 26 occasions for the year which translates to a payment of Weekly Production Incentive (WPI).In a statement by GuySuCo, employees will receive their bonus dependent on the value of the final production at the end of 2018.
With a few weeks left for the Second Crop, employees are encouraged to maintain the team spirit and managers must continue to show strong leadership and management in 2019. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Uitvlugt Sugar estate was commended in April for meeting and surpassed its production target for the first crop of 2018
