Justice Damone Younge ruled on Monday that the High Court has no jurisdiction to inquire into the decision of the Parliamentary Committee of Privileges to suspend eight Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) for violating the National Assembly’s Standing Orders. This decision marks a significant setback for the suspended MPs, who had sought a review of the Committee’s decision in the High Court. The ruling, however, is not necessarily the end of the legal battle, as the suspended MPs may still have other options for recourse. Tiana Cole has the details.
