-Nurse who attended to woman at health centre reported matter to police
A 27-year-old abusive husband is now in the lockups after he dealt several cuffs to his wife’s head, stuck his finger in the woman’s eye after threatening to kill her, while he had been imbibing with his brother at his home in the wee hours of Monday.
The woman, 27, did not make a report to the police, but the cops were notified about the injuries about the housewife’s body by a Nurse stationed at a health centre where the injured female turned up to obtain medical attention after she was assaulted by her husband.
HGP Nightly News understands that the incident occurred around 12:30h on Monday at the couple’s No. 64 Village, Corentyne, Berbice home.
According to a police report, the suspect was at his home, consuming alcoholic beverages with his brother, during which he called for his wife and questioned as to whether she was ‘looking out for her lover.’
The cops noted that the woman did not respond to the question and chose to remain silent and this resulted in him grabbing her by her hair and dealing her several cuffs to her head.
He then pushed his finger in her eye causing her to receive further injuries before he threatened to end her life.
On Tuesday, around 09:00h, while the wounded woman was at a health centre to receive medical attention, she was questioned by a Nurse about the origins of her injuries and the health worker immediately reported the matter.
“Ranks of the No. 51 Police Station responded, went to the home of the suspect and arrested him.
Further enquiries also revealed that about a month ago the suspect dealt the victim a chop on her hand causing her to receive a wound. The suspect remains in police custody as the probe continues.”
