Rabindra Surujdin, a Manager of the Institute of Health Science Education (IHSE) at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, died on Friday night while his wife is in a critical state following an accident on the Rupert Craig Highway near the Infectious Disease Hospital.
HGP Nightly News understands that Surujdin lost control of the vehicle, which ended up in a nearby trench.
The vehicle became immobilised, entrapping both individuals inside. The duo was freed from the wreckage with the help of public-spirited citizens and first responders.
In a statement, the Georgetown Public Hospital said it was deeply saddened by the “untimely passing” of Surujdin.
“Endearingly known as ‘Robin’ to all, he was a light among us and touched so many lives with his warmth and humour. Robin was pleasant and always willing, and made any project he was a part of an enjoyable and easier experience for others: he was an exceptional human being who was respected and loved by all who knew him. This is a great loss for our institution, our country and humanity.”
