In the face of being denied its annual subvention from the Government, the International Decade of People of African Descent is wrestling with a debt of approximately $10.5M, which encompasses the outstanding salaries to its employees, some of whom the organization has had to lay off. Despite this, its Chairperson is seeking the continuation of the funding until the end of the Decade to demonstrate the State’s articulated commitment as exemplified by its support for the United Nation’s resolution.
