Brazen thieves escaped with more than $400,000 from an Industry businessman shortly after leaving an East Coast Bank. During their bid for loot, two persons were shot and injured. Here are the details from Javone Vickerie.

The incident reportedly occurred around noon Thursday when two unidentified bandits pounced on a businessman who owns a body workshop in Crown Dam Industry. When Nightly News arrived on the scene, the businessman’s car was still parked with a shattered window. The businessman, Dannyram Kissoon was at the time returning home after conducting business a commercial bank on the East Coast of Demerara. Kissoon reportedly had just withdrawn $450,000. Kissoon’s daughter, who witnessed the ordeal and requested her identity be withheld, explained that she was in the living room when she heard gunshots.

The daughter noted that after shooting at her father and the doctor, the two men entered their vehicle and escaped. Eyewitnesses say that the men drove further down Crown Dam before disappearing into Cummings Lodge. The eyewitness said that her father eventually emerged from the vehicle, along with the doctor who were both taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The daughter said that this was the first time her father was robbed by bandits. The Guyana Police Force during its 2018 Christmas presentation emphasized the need for business owners to desist from walking around with large sums of cash.
