Twenty-three-year-old Stephan Howard, previously remanded to prison for armed robbery, now faces additional charges for setting fire to two mattresses at the lockups in the Brickdam Police Station. The incident occurred recently, and authorities quickly apprehended Howard as the main suspect. According to reports, Howard allegedly lit the mattresses on fire to ward off mosquitoes in the cell.
However, this reckless act caused a dangerous situation and required the prompt response of the police and fire departments to extinguish the flames.
