Officials of the City Constabulary say that the spate of robberies occurring in downtown Stabroek Market is being perpetrated by mostly juveniles. The Acting Chief Constable says that this development is troubling for society. Here are the details from Javone Vickerie.
The police are still searching for the two thieves seen here in surveillance video that violently robbed a young man of his phone and cash which he had on him. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night in the full viewing ofpersons who stood and witness the ordeal. This crime, considered simple larceny, is just one in several that is being perpetrated almost every week in the Stabroek Market area. The police confirmed to this newscast that several suspects have been arrested, while some have already been processed for court. In an interview with the Acting Chief Constable of the Georgetown Municipality Laurel Gittens, she explained that the disturbing issue of the crimes is the fact that they’re mostly committed by a gang of juveniles.
