Labourer allegedly attacked, “sliced” with blade by teen relative

A 23-year-old labourer is now hospitalized after he was cut to his face and hands by his teenage relative after he allegedly scolded the female for behaving disorderly towards her grandmother (his mother) on Saturday afternoon.

The injured man has been identified as Chetram Chandra of Bell Vue, West Bank Demerara (WBD), who is said to have been attacked by the 13-year-old female at his residence.

Reports are that around 17:45h on the day in question, Chandra was “watching a movie on his cellular phone” when the teenager ventured inside that location of the house and allegedly commenced using indecent language to insult her grandmother.

According to a police statement, Chandra, upon hearing the alleged abuse, scolded the girl about her disorderly behavior and this is said to have resulted in her becoming “annoyed.”

“It is alleged that the teen then took out a surgical blade from her pants pocket and attacked the victim, who received three cuts to his left side face, left hand and right hand. The suspect then ran away, making good her escape. The matter was reported and the victim was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was seen, examined and admitted a patient in the male medical ward.”

Investigations are in progress.
