Labourer dead after falling from 4th floor of six-storey building

The life of a 25-year-old construction worker was cut short on Wednesday (yesterday) after he fell from a six (6) storey building currently under construction at Regent Street, Georgetown.

Dead is Lloyd Feroze called “Toney” of Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

The tragedy took place around 13: 30h at Lot 106 Regenet Street, Georgetown.

Reports are that the building which is presently under construction is owned by businessman and publisher of the Kaieteur Newspaper, Glenn Lall.

According to a police statement on the matter, Feroze was employed by a Foreman, identified as Peter Ramdoo of Skull City, Patentia, WBD, for the past four (4) months as a labourer.

Ramdoo reported to the cops that the now dead man has been mixing cement on the floor and upon completion of this task, he walked up to the fourth (4th) floor of the building which has an open space with a stairway in the centre.

A few minutes later, Ramdoo stated that he heard a “crashing sound” and upon checking he observed that Feroze had fallen to the ground from the fourth (4th) floor.

Feroze was picked up by an ambulance and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The cops noted that his body was examined and a “puncture wound” was observed at the back of Feroze’s head. His body is presently stored at the GPHC mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME).

Investigations continue.
