A 57-year-old man is now dead after he was brutally chopped about his body by a cane harvester following an argument the duo had in relation to the a bicycle that belonged to the now deceased man.

The dead man has been identified as Sahadeo Bissoon called “Son Son” and “Fine Man”, a labourer of the Patentia East Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

The murder suspect is said to be a 45-year-old resident of Skull City, WBD.

On Sunday, Bissoon left his home around 13:00hrs to collect his bicycle which he had lent to the alleged perpetrator a while ago, but when he arrived at the man’s residence to obtain his property, an argument ensued between the two.

The row stemmed from the fact that the cane harvester had failed to return Bissoon’s bicycle in a timely manner.

Reports are that the murder suspect armed himself with a cutlass and dealt several chops about the labourer’s body and the badly injured man tried to escape to safety.

However, Bissoon only managed to walk some 20 feet away from the suspect’s house before he collapsed in the street. Public spirited persons who witnessed the ordeal contacted the police and when ranks arrived at the scene the labourer was already dead.

They noticed two chop wounds to the right side of Bissoon’s head, two chop wounds to the right side of his neck, one chop wound to back of his neck and three chop wounds to the front of the labourer’s neck.

The now dead man also had three chop wounds to his right side shoulder, one chop wound on his right forearm, one chop wound on his right palm and another chop wound on his left palm.

Quick action by the police led to the prompt arrest of the suspect, who was still in the area, and the cutlass that was allegedly used to murder Bissoon was also recovered.

The labourer’s body was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, West Coast Demerara (WCD), where the doctor on duty pronounced the man dead on arrival.

Bissoon’s body is currently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home where it awaits a Post Mortem (PM) Examination.
