The body of a 16-year-old female was found with a rope tied around her neck by the mother of the teen’s reputed husband inside of their North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini) home on Sunday (yesterday).
According to a police statement, the now dead youth had been living with her 21-year-old lover, a farmer, at his family’s residence and around 08:00h on the day in question, the man’s mother made the shocking discovery.
The older woman found the teenager’s motionless body inside of a room located in the upper flat of their home.
“The matter was reported at the Yarakita Police Station and a party of police visited the scene where the body was examined but no marks of violence were seen. The body was later escorted to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital Mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME).
An investigation is ongoing.
