According to Police Commissioner (ag) Clifton Hicken, Guyana has experienced a 37% increase in murders over the past year. However, in a contrasting trend, there has been a notable 12% decrease in all other serious offenses. The statistics highlight the rise in murder rates while indicating progress in addressing other serious crimes.
