MALARIA SURVEILLANCE WORKSHOP LAUNCHED – FIRST GENOMIC SEQUENCING ON MALARIA PARASITE EXPECTED

Even as Malaria continues to be a local health burden, infecting an estimated 18,000-20,000 Guyanese annually, health authorities, through a partnership with the Harvard T.H Chan School of Medicine, are anticipating that Guyana would be able to better monitor malaria cases using advanced sequencing techniques and implement targeted policies for its elimination by the end of this week.
