A motorcyclist was dealt several blows to his face with a gun and relieved of his XR motorcycle by a pillion rider, who arrived with his accomplice (another motorcyclist) at the traffic lights at Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and executed their crime while the now injured man was waiting for the traffic lights to change.
The injured man has been identified as Romain Legay, whose motorbike is valued at $460,000. The crime reportedly occurred on Tuesday (yesterday).
According to a police statement, Legay was proceeding South along the Eccles Public Road, EBD and made a stop at the Eccles traffic lights when two (2) males on a black and red XR motorcycle approached him.
The pillion rider dismounted and started to assault him and this resulted in a scuffle and subsequently lead to the pillion rider brandishing a black hand gun which he used to deal the victim several blows to his face and relieved him of his motorcycle.
“The suspects then made their way in a northern direction of the East Bank Public Road and made good their escape. The victim was taken to the East Ruimveldt Police Station and was subsequently escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation to seek medical attention. No arrest made, investigation in progress.”
