A 23-year-old man is now nursing an injury to his hand after a 46-year-old male allegedly used a wood to attack him during an argument over the now injured man’s wife.
The wounded male has been identified as Ishwar Megnaught called “Buck Man” and the incident is said to have taken place around 10;30h on Wednesday (yesterday) at Mibicuri, South Black Bush Polder Berbice Corentyne.
Reports are that on the above-mentioned date and time, Megnaught was “drying paddy” along the Mibicuri Public Road when he was confronted by the suspect, who is known to him.
The older man allegedly complained to Megnaught that his (Megnaught’s) wife was “always calling him.”
According to a police statement, the two then got involved in a heated argument before the 46 year-old suspect armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt a lash to Megnaught’s hand.
“Ishwar Megnaught rushed to the nearby Mibicuri Public Hospital and was examined but later referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he has since been admitted. The suspect was later arrested and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.”
