The 44-year-old male of Thirteenth Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara, was chopped during an argument on Tuesday. The man has been identified asDeonauth Ramnarain.
The Police, in a statement, said that at about 14:58 hrs, the victim and his brother were at home when an argument ensued over the breaking of a door lock.
As a result, the brother became annoyed, went upstairs, collected his cutlass, and dealt the victim several chops about his back, left chest area, and forehead.
The injured man went to the Enmore Police Station, made a report, and was subsequently escorted to Enmore Polyclinic Centre, where he was treated and sent away. The suspect was arrested by the police and is in custody at Enmore PoliceStation.
