Man chopped to shoulder, knee after delivering ‘ganja’ to customer

One (1) man is now nursing chop wounds to his right shoulder and behind his left knee after he purchased marijuana “ganja” at the request of another man and was in the process of delivering the illegal substance, late last night (Friday) at Koker Dam, Fyrish, Corentyne, Berbice.

The injured man has been identified as Sunil Singh and the incident is said to have taken place at the above-mentioned location on Friday (yesterday) around 23:00h.

According to a police statement, Singh’s assailant is currently at large and cops are on the hunt for him.

Reports are that on Friday, around 22:30h, Singh was at home watching a programme on his television when he heard the suspect calling out for him with a request that he (Singh) purchase an amount of marijuana for him.

Singh told investigators that he complied with the request ad while he was handing over the marijuana to the suspect, the man fired a chop to Singh’s shoulder and another to his knee which resulted in Singh receiving serious injuries.

“The victim managed his way to the Albion Police Station where he made a report and was escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was seen, examined, treated and later transferred the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. Checks were made for the suspect, investigations in progress.”
