A 45-year-old man was allegedly found lifeless inside of a chair at his residence, early yesterday (Thursday) morning by his friend, who would usually “check up on him” every day since the now deceased is said to have lived alone.
The dead man has been identified as Kissoon Latchman of Lot 627 Sixteenth Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
HGP Nightly News understands that Latchman was discovered dead around 06:00h on the day in question (yesterday).
According to a police statement, enquiries disclosed that the now deceased was a “known alcoholic” and lived alone.
It is alleged that on Wednesday Latchman visited his daughter’s residence and around 20:00h on the said day, he left her home while being under the influence of alcohol.
“He was last seen alive at 20:30h (on Wednesday) lying in a hammock at his residence. On the date and time mentioned (yesterday), the deceased’s friend – who usually checks on him daily – came to check on him and observed the door facing north was opened. He allegedly entered the house through the said door where he discovered the deceased lying backward on a chair and blood about his bed and several areas in the house also in the hammock and on the ground just below the hammock.”
He immediately raised an alarm and Latchman’s son rushed to the scene.
“Police was summoned to the scene and the body was examined and what appears to be a wound was seen to his left side head. The body was escorted to Enmore Poly Clinic where the body was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is currently at Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME).”
