55-year-old John Beatah was on Friday sentenced to two months behind bars for trafficking cocaine.
Beatah of East Ruimveldt appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on September 27, 2022, at Alboys Street, Alboystown, he had in his possession 6.7 grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, ranks acting on information went to Alboys Street, where they saw Beatah acting in a suspicious manner.
A search was carried out on his possession, and the cocaine was found in his right-side pants pocket.
Magistrate Daly, after listening to the facts, sentenced Beatah to two months behind bars and ordered him to pay a $30,000 fine.
