Another boat fire has been recorded, this time at Bartica in the Essequibo River. According to reports about 16:00hrs on Tuesday, August 17, Okema Brummell went to ‘Sir’ Gas Station at 4th Avenue beach Bartica, Essequibo River to purchase gasoline with a wooden boat.
After purchasing the gasoline and restarting the boat’s 200hp outboard engine, the battery sparked and the boat caught into flames causing him to receive minor burns to his left foot before he jumped into the Essequibo for safety. Further, Brunell was rushed to the Bartica Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
