A 39-year-old man is now dead after he allegedly tried to relieve his mentally unstable brother of a knife which he had armed himself with inside of their home on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Cleveland Hodge od BuzzBee Dam, Craig village, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Although Hodge was stabbed repeatedly on Thursday afternoon, he was discharged from the hospital shortly after, but died today after being readmitted.
Reports are that around 13:40 on Thursday, the assailant picked up a kitchen knife and when Hodge approached him to take the weappn away, he became violent.
As such, he used the knife to stab Hodge to his left shoulder, underneath his right arm and on the elbow.
The police were called in and the suspect was arrested while an injured Hodge visited the Diamond Diagnostic Center, EBD, for medical attention.
He was treated and sent away.
However, just around midnight, Hodge complained of “feeling unwell” and had to be taken once again to the Diamond Diagnostic Center, EBD.
He was admitted at that health facility but some hours later Hodge was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for further medical attention.
Around 13:40h today, Hodge died at the GPHC, while receiving treatment.
Investigations are presently ongoing.
