Man robbed of phone, gold ring other valuables while transacting business

A man who had been in the process of delivering some “spare parts” to a bond located at 17th Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD), is now counting his losses after he was allegedly robbed by two (2) motorcycle bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun.

The incident took place around 11:20h at the above-mentioned location and involved the two (2) perpetrators who showed up at crime scene on a black XR motorcycle.

HGP Nightly News understands that Moniram Persaud was robbed of his Samsung cellular phone valued at $50,000, one (1) gold ring worth $60,000 and two (2) excavator filters valued at $30,000.

According to a police statement, on the mentioned date and time above, Persaud was heading to 17th Street Foulis, ECD, in motor vehicle (#PHH 3399).

“At the said location, which is a bond, he was in the process of handing over some spare parts when the suspects came from the Eastern direction on the left passenger side of the vehicle. The pillon rider alighted the motorcycle, took out a black hand gun from a bucket, discharged a round into the air and demanded that Moniram hand over cash. The suspect then searched the vehicle and relieved Moniram of the mentioned articles,” the police said.

The suspect then reportedly mounted the motorcycle and the two (2) perpetrators made good their escape.

“The matter was reported to Enmore Police Station. Checks were made for the suspects but they were not contacted. Statement taken and investigation in progress.”
