A 20-year-old man was allegedly shot to his back, arm and abdomen during a ‘break and enter’ incident involving a businessman, who is a licensed firearm holder, and he (suspect) is currently under police guard at the Mabaruma Regional Hospital,
Sheldon Baharally, a 33-year-old businessman of Settlement, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini) alleged that shortly after midnight, on Sunday (yesterday), he confronted someone who was trying to break into his home.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the licensed firearm holder fired several shots in the person’s direction but the suspect managed to escape.
The cops were immediately informed and investigations commenced.
“Acting on information, investigators picked up a 20-year-old male at his home in the Barima River had three gunshot wounds to his arm, back and abdomen. When questioned about his injuries he alleges that he was at a home the night before and was shot. He is currently under guard in a stable condition at the Mabaruma Regional Hospital as investigations continue.”
