One man was struck to his face with a bottle during an argument at the Sukpaul’s Superbet Sports Shop, Springlands village, Corriverton, Berbice, while another is on the run for the cops for the crime.
The injured man was identified as Khemraj Ragnauth of Rampoor village, Corriverton, Berbice, and is said to have been attacked on Tuesday at the above-mentioned location.
According to a police statement, on the date and time mentioned, Rajnauth was at the Sukpaul’s Superbet Sports Shop along with the suspect, who was gambling at the time, when they had a heated argument.
“The suspect became annoyed, armed himself with a glass bottle and dealt the victim a lash to his face causing him to receive injuries. The suspect then made good his escape. The victim was escorted to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor who treated him.”
Rajnauth was subsequently referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment.
“Several persons were questioned in the area but no useful information received.”
Investigations are ongoing.
