Derbia Viera, a 35-year-old miner, was arrested Monday with a shotgun at Omenike Village, Imbaimadai, Region Seven, after his mother called the Police.
The woman told Police that at about 6:00h on Saturday last, Viera went to her home with the firearm.
The woman said she told her son to hide the firearm in nearby bushes, and she contacted the Police and village Toshao.
The woman took the Police ranks to the area where the firearm was recovered in some bushes, wrapped in plastic.
The ranks took possession of the firearm and escorted it to Imbaimadai Police Station. Upon examination, it was found to be a 12 gauge shotgun.
The miner was contacted and told of the offence to which he admitted. He is in custody and is expected to be charged soon.
