A minibus driver was on Wednesday granted $500 bail after being charged with rape of a child under 16 years old.
27-year-old Waylon Jordan of Lot 15 Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was hauled before Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Golden Grove/Diamond Magistrates’ Court.
He was not required to plead to the charge, which alleged that on February 15, 2023, Jordan, in the county of Demerara, engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
Bail was granted in the sum of $500,000. The matter was adjourned to June 1, 2023, for statements.
