Minimart owner robbed of cash, valuables by gunman, accomplice

A 32-year-old businessman was robbed of $60,000 in cash along with valuables worth $100,000 while he was inside of his store by two (2) suspects, one of whom had been armed with a gun.

The businessman, identified as Junior December of La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was robbed of his cash, one (1) gold ring worth $20,000, a Redmi Note 8 PRO valued at $65,000 and a quantity of Digicel and GTT phone cards worth $15,000.

The robbery under arms took place around 19:20h at the Cornelia Ida (CI) village, WCD on Tuesday.

Reports are that around 18:55h on the day in question, December was inside of his store making notes when he observed two (2) men entering his Minimart.

One of the two suspects whipped out a handgun upon entering the establishment and ordered him to remain quiet while the other perpetrator relieved the businessman of the above-mentioned items.

After the bandits obtained their loot, they quickly made good their escape from the crime scene.

According to December, the armed suspect also fired a shot from his weapon while escaping.
Investigations are in progress.
