Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill has warned contractors and engineers across Guyana that substandard work will not be tolerated.
During a recent inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects, Minister Edghill clarified that the government is no longer willing to accept delays, poor workmanship, or excuses from those entrusted with public construction contracts.
“Every dollar spent belongs to the people of Guyana. If you can’t deliver to the standard expected, you will be sanctioned,” Edghill stated firmly.
He emphasized that contractors who fail to meet quality standards, ignore project deadlines, or violate contractual obligations will face penalties, including blacklisting and termination of contracts.
This move comes as the government continues to roll out significant roadworks, bridges, and public facilities across the country—efforts Edghill said must be executed with accountability and excellence.
