The opposition side of the house attributed the closure of several sugar estates to what they claim is an increase in crime. But Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan says the situation was far different under the previous regime. Javone Vickerie Reports.
It could be considered a showdown in the National Assembly Thursday night
as members of the house raised their views on the several issues which they
claimed are cries being ignored by the administration.
Opposition Chief Whip Gail Teixeira asserted that since the administration
took office, the People’s Progressive Party Civic received complaints from
several sectors of Guyana who all complained about the current state of
affairs with the economy
Teixeira further noted that on several occasions, the government’s side of the
house shot down several recommendations made by the opposition to deal
with social issues, including suicide.
