MINISTER TEIXEIRA CHALLENGES TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL’S CORRUPTION PERCEPTIONS INDEX’S 2025 REPORT

Guyana Government Rejects 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index:

The Government of Guyana has reacted to the recently released 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), dismissing it as a subjective and flawed measure that does not accurately reflect corruption levels in the country.

Officials argue that Transparency International, the organization behind the CPI, uses inconsistent methodology and fails to consider Guyana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and governance.

The report, which gave Guyana a score of 39 out of 100, has sparked widespread debate. Critics cite persistent concerns over public sector accountability, while government officials insist that the nation is making significant progress in tackling corruption.

Tiana Cole has more on this unfolding controversy.
