In a bold step toward strengthening Guyana’s workforce, the Ministry of Education on Wednesday officially launched its new 10-Year Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy, which aims to transform skills development and make history in human capital investment.

The policy rollout marks a strategic move to equip Guyanese—especially youth—with the technical skills, training, and certification needed to thrive in traditional and emerging sectors, including oil and gas, construction, ICT, and renewable energy.

Education officials emphasized that the long-term plan will promote inclusive, high-quality vocational education, targeting school leavers, adult learners, and underrepresented communities across all regions.

“This is more than a policy—it’s a blueprint for empowering our people and preparing them for the demands of a rapidly evolving economy,” said a senior official at the launch.

The initiative includes expanding access to training institutions, modernizing curricula, and partnering with industries to ensure graduates are work-ready.
