The dead man has been identified as 35-year-old Troy Sandy.

The stabbing incident took place around 17:00h on Tuesday at Black Bush Polder, Berbice.

According to a police statement, the now dead man’s lover and her two (2) children were en route to her home in a taxi and while travelling another vehicle (#PKK 2541) blocked the taxi’s path on the roadway.

Sandy exited the driver’s seat of that car (#PKK 2541) armed with a cutlass in one of his hands and began to behave disorderly towards the woman.

He then went to his motorcar and sped away, making good his escape.’

The taxi driver quickly assisted the bleeding woman by rushing her to the Mibicuri Public Hospital, where she was treated and transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment.

She is currently admitted a patient in a serious but stable condition.

“The (now) deceased was subsequently found at the Mibicuri Public hospital where he was admitted a patient for ingestion of poison. At 23:35 hrs on the same day he died. His remains are now at Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME).”
