Mon Repos man disappears after diving into river

40-year-old Mesesh Persaud, called ‘Ajai’, was last seen on Tuesday at around 10:30 hours after jumping into the Essequibo River.
The police report revealed that Ajai and his friend were imbibing when he told his friend that his skin was hot and that he would take a swim in the river. 
The victim was seen jumping into the Essequibo River but did not resurface after a period of time. 
As a result, an alarm was raised, and checks were made for the victim, which proved futile. 
A report was made at the Bartica Police Station, and the GPF has since launched a search and investigation into the victim’s disappearance.
