Mon Repos pensioner found dead with injuries about body in street

A 65-year-old pensioner was found lifeless with several injuries about his body and what appeared to be blood around him on a street in Mon Repos Pasture, East Coast Demerara (ECD) last night (Sunday).

The deceased has been identified as Astraf Ali of the above-mentioned area.

Reports are that around 21:00h on Sunday, Ali was noticed “laying on the road’s surface” with injuries about his body while in a motionless state.

According to the cops, there was a reddish substance around him, which the person (s) who made the discovery believed to have been blood.

As such, the police and ambulance were immediately summoned to the scene and when the paramedics arrived there they reported that they could not feel Ali’s pulse beating.

He was then placed into the ambulance and escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty.

The pensioner was pronounced dead and his body is currently at the Lyken Funeral Home where it awaits a Post Mortem Examination (PME).

Investigations into Ali’s demise continue.
