A 27-year-old motorcyclist is now dead after he allegedly lost control of the motorbike (# CK 7037) he was riding and slammed into an “articulated” vehicle along the East Bank Demerara (EBD) roadway.
The deceased has been identified as Steven Armstrong of Hill Foot, Soesdyke/ Linden Highway.
Reports are that around 17:30h on Wednesday (yesterday), Armstrong was proceeding North on the Mc Doom village, EBD, road when he lost control of the motorcycle (#CK 7037) and collided with the articulated vehicle.
According to a statement from the police, the vehicle in question had been in the process of passing a minibus which was offloading at that time.
“As a result, he fell and suffered several injuries to his head and body and was picked up in a semi conscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Hospital by public spirited citizens; but was pronounced dead at 19:45hrs, while being treated for his injuries.No traces of alcohol were found in the driver of the articulated vehicle or the driver of the minibus. The investigation is ongoing.”
