A 10 acres field with approximately 115,000 cultivated plants measuring between 1-5 feet in height was destroyed by fire when police made the discovery on Thursday. The field was located at Gateroy Village, Berbice River.
The plants reportedly had an average weight of two thousand seven hundred and eighty five pounds were found on four makeshift camps. The area also had a drying area which had about 215 cannabis plants drying that was estimated at three thousand pounds.
The eradication exercise was Led by a gazetted officer accompanied with ranks in Regional Division #6. The estimated value of the live and dried cannabis is approximately $90M.
