“No one” went to aid drowning 10-Y-O boy: police.

Police are investigating the suspected drowning of a 10-year-old boy that occurred offshore at the seawalls at Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Sunday, July 11, between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Dead is Anand Mangroo of lot 380 Hope Low Lands, ECD.

Police said based on investigations, Anand, along with his 13-year-old brother and an eight-year-old cousin, were at the Hope Seawall swimming when a wave knocked Anand towards the Hope Koker channel.

Police said the deceased went under the water and did not come up.

According to the statement, his 13-year-old brother shouted for help, but “no one” went to his assistance.

Police searched and recovered Anand’s body at 8:20 p.m. at HopeForeshore, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
