A well-attended oil and gas summit at the Umana Yana on Saturday, gave Youths a perspective on the upcoming industry.
The Departments of Youth in conjunction with the department of Energy and Environment hosted a “Youths and Oil and Gas” forum where youths were able to ask questions and make suggestions.Calls for more training opportunities, awareness campaigns, job creation, creation of strong policies and the implementation of stringent laws followed where Director of the Energy Dr. Mark Bynoe encouraged youths to plan for careers, not only in oil and gas, but rather for the transformation of the economy.
Director of Youth Melissa Carmichael told the youths that the Department will be rolling out the Green Ambassadors and Apprenticeship programme which will seek to further empower youths in the sector.She also encouraged the young people to take advantage of every training opportunity available and programmes being offered by the department geared at empowering young people.
