Paradise Man charged with illegal possession of a firearm

A man was on Monday placed on bail when he appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge which alleged that he had a Firearm Without Licence in his possession.


35-year-old Jethro Jones of lot 33 First Street Paradise, ECD, was on Monday charged with the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore. In court today, Jones pleaded not guilty and was placed on $150,000.00 bail and the matter has been put down for May 30, 2022, for hearing.
On Sunday, February 06, 2022, shortly after midnight, Jones was arrested after Joint Services ranks who were conducting Covid-19 enforcement at a bar in Melanie, East Coast Demerara found one .32 Taurus pistol concealed in the waist of his pants. The accused could not produce a licence for the same, which led to his arrest and subsequent charge.
