A peacemaker is now nursing stab wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being stabbed by his 28-year-old neighbor in Parika Outfall, Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo. Police have reported that the suspect arrived home about 23:00hrs on Wednesday night intoxicated and told his 61-year-old mother that he wants his food and she told him to serve himself. The man then became annoyed and threw the pot with the food to the ground and started to abuse her verbally. Their neighbour, Anil Samsudeen overheard the confrontation and went to enquire. He later told the woman’s son to desist his abuse, however, he continued.
According to the Police, the 28-year-old man then asked Samdudeen victim if he wants to do something about it and the victim replied “If you want do something come do it”.
At the time the suspect who was armed with a black knife walked up to the victim and dealt him one stab to the abdomen and made good his escape.
Subsequently, the neighbour was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was seen but later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further observation in a critical condition.
Checks were made for the suspect but to no avail. The area was checked and the weapon used was recovered by the police.
Further investigations are underway.
