Police in ‘A’ Division arrested six men who were reportedly scheming to commit robberies. Police sources confirmed that ranks went to the area after being informed that some shady characters were seen liming in a car and were possibly up to no good.
The police recovered a .38 revolver and several matching rounds, as well as an AT 192 motorcar, which is suspected to have been used by the men.
Sources revealed that officers at the police station received a call informing them of the strange convergence of the group of men.
It is also reported that two of the men arrested are known to the police after having been previously charged with robberies under arms. Clifton Hickens, Commander of ‘A’ Division, confirmed that the men were indeed held and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to Police sources, the men are being detained to verify if they would have had any involvement in any of the robberies or crimes committed along the East Bank Demerara and other areas. The investigations are continuing.
