The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is reporting that earlier today (Monday 24 January 2022), ranks from the Cove and John Police Station, acting on information, conducted an intelligence led operation in Foulis, East Coast Demerara which led to the recovery of yet another illegal firearm.
The GPF is reporting that as a result of a well coordinated, intelligence-led operation, a search was conducted at a house at 10th Street Foulis where upon arrival, ranks encountered a 28-year-old construction worker, who at the time was leaving his yard with a bag.
A search was conducted on the said gift bag and one make-shift firearm and one live twelve-gauge cartridge were discovered. The suspect along with the firearm and ammunition were subsequently escorted to the Cove and John Police Station where the suspect was detained and the firearm was marked and lodged.
According to the GPF, the suspect was told of the offenses committed, cautioned and arrested. Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
