PORK KNOCKER REMANDED FOR ILLEGAL GUN AND AMMO

A Golden Grove man was remanded to prison on Monday for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Here are the details from Javone Vickerie within the courts. 

30-year-old Kevin Richardson, a Pork Knocker was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daly for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The accused of Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara plead not guilty to two charges when they were read to him. He was remanded to prison until January 21.

It is alleged that on January 11 at Arau Mountain Top, Cuyuni River, Region 7, Richardson had in his possession a 9mm pistol along with 11 matching rounds of ammunition when he was not a licence firearm holder.

Police Prosecutor Sanja Singh explained to the court that Richardson was searched by four villagers while walking through Arau Mountain Top. Police say that Richardson was found with the gun and was turned over to the police.

Richardson’s attorney, Damien Da Silva told the court that while his client walking through the village, residents confronted him, including one who brandished the said 9mm firearm.

He said that a fight ensued between the men and Richardson was arrested and taken to the police. Da Silva stressed that while at the police station the villagers told ranks that the gun belonged to the accused.
