The owner of the Sleep-In Bar & Casino, Clifton Bacchus, along with two (2) of his bartenders were arrested between Friday night (yesterday) and wee hours of Saturday (today) by relevant authorities for flouting the COVID-19 rules and curfew currently in place nationwide.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), ranks from the National COVID-19 Task Force, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and from the GPF conducted an operation in Regional Division 4 ‘A’ (Georgetown) between the hours of 22:00h on Friday and 03:30h on Saturday (today).
During this operation, several persons were detained for breaching the curfew, inclusive of 10 Chinese Nationals who were at the Sleep-In Bar & Casino at that time.
Meanwhile, the Proprietor of Club Altitude located at Sandy Babb Street Kitty, Georgetown, Meer Rahaman was also arrested with 10 males and eight (8) females who were patrons at that location when the authorities turned up there.
The Manager of Kairos Bar, located at Charlotte Street, Bourda, Georgetown, Mark Alleyen, met the same fate as the proprietors of the businesses mentioned above and a Bartender, Delon Moffett along with his assistance, Akeem Carmichael, who work at Club Privilege at Main Street, Georgetown, were also arrested.
According to the police, all of those who were arrested between Friday night and Saturday (today) were all placed on cash bail pending Court.
