Public safety top priority for Guyana Police Force, Efforts underway to make City Markets Safe

Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean and Police Commander of 4 A Division met with Mayor and City Council’s Chief Constable Mr. V. Gafur on Wednesday morning to implement strategies such an increased and visible police presence in certain areas to bring public safety to the market areas.

This comes in light of a meeting between the Mayor of Georgetown and hierarchy of the Guyana Police Force earlier this week.

On Wednesday, all parties engaged in walkabout in the Stabroek Market area to map out strategies for collaboration and policing in and around the public thoroughfares.

This comes just days after the US Embassy warned its Staffers & Americans about the Crime situation in Georgetown.
